Good afternoon! As we introduce Recreomusic to the ‘blogosphere, we acknowledge that whoever shall find his/her way here may not be clear on our purpose.
Part dissertation research and part personal/professional curiosity, we are looking at the effectiveness of music education from the standpoints of public education, community-based education, and/or the collaboration, or a blending, of services through and with schools and community agencies. Are the systems in place conducive to good music education? How can we modify them to be more engaging and more effective?
The direction of the conversations may get controversial, yet hopefully thought-provoking. Posts may be used for inclusion in the dissertation; please be respectful and recognize that both children and adults may be reading and posting. Keep it clean; keep it respectful.
Recreomusic — an abbreviation for recreoedumusicology: the recreation of the education and study of music. (Did you interpret that as the “rec-reation” or the “re-creation”?)
