On music education, on school leadership…and it is interesting how issues from my past work find their ways into this current work. Codependence at the institutional level is firmly engrained. This has caused me to order a book from my undergraduate days, When Society Becomes an Addict, by Anne Wilson Schaef, PhD.
I recall, back in the late 80s and early 90s, this book made an impact on me. It allowed me to see myself, my family, my associations, and the institutions with which I was involved as have addicting and codependent characteristics. Here, 20 years later, I am revisiting this unsuspectingly.
Challenging what “should” be and what could be are often in conflict. By weeks end, let’s see if there are possibilities – currently as thoughts – which may become action items.
